The band itself had a minor impact on my life, other than the dominance factor of blaring it in front of friends when they're arguing about Tiesto and Scooter. It silences them usually.
But from the inside, being a 'real' band, their independence and refusal to give in to the mainstream is admirable, and because of that they're only still around for one reason, and that's the biggest impact it has for me; Liam's musical skill; in the big picture book of FOTL there's a pic of Liam, on what is by today's standards a 'pretty old shitty' computer. He's got an old version of Cubase running too, and that pic, for me, epitomizes effort=reward.
The thought of piecing SMBU together bit by bit with no secrets or shortcuts, but old fashioned 'eyes burning at 4am' effort is pretty motivational for me.
Here it is
Kids today (I know I'm young myself, shut it) focus way too much on bigger and more. I used to be the same, picking up synths and things left and right, but fuck, the standards of software/hardware today shits on the software/hardware used back then, so people need to sit down and think about how Their Law or even Charley came about, before forking out thousands on shit they can't use.
