Pfft, popularity, not really a good thing
However, it wasn't a bad look, just good to move on. Once I see Keith with an afro then I'll start judging.
I saw the previous comment and was about to go off on a tirade about popularity meaning nothing with respect to how good an artist(s) is, then scrolled down and saw Martin's comment which saved me the trouble. Bravo Martin.
Remember that for a lot of people Firestarter, Keith singing, the silly haircut, the crazy tongue out buffoonery etc was a serious "what the fuck?!?! If this is the Prodigy now then I'm off" moment.
I myself nearly gave up on them at that point as I saw it as a huge defilement of my favourite group and a departure from the "underground ethos" into Top of the Pops tunes for kids and pissheads to like.
Thankfully I stuck around (and Liam is wonderful enough to provide instrumentals for those of us that don't require a "singer" or "lead man" to enjoy our music) to enjoy the (majority) of stuff that they release to this day.
