I got a problem with them. basically they're all annoying teens that don't know anything about, or bother to research Prodigy's back cat'.

A couple of teens I know said they love prodigy, when they say like older stuff, all they can name is out of space. it's tragic. Ok so I know I was a teen growing up with prodigy 1996ish, but we were a GOOD generation fanbase. we checked out and love Experience and Jilted (And in my case, alot more than FotL) But the magic in Prodigy for me has gone with IMD. The W30's gone. the 90's magic has just gone. I don't know if Im saying that because I'm 25 now. but I feel it really has and I hate this new generation of fans.

ok, I might of overrated.
when I told you about this person I know, maybe I should just call him a casual-fan of the prodigy since he listens to all this other top40 bullshit

but I still feel something is missing. I'll look at a 2009-2011 live perf on youtube. But I always end up going back to the 90s ones, and that's not just because it takes me back to my school days. somethings missing in the new ones. PLus, I don't like all the updates. I don't like the firestarter update, and I'm getting bored allready with Maxim's "where's all my people, where's all my prodigy people?" question.

ok this thread is kinda negative.

So I'm gonna be risky and say this now... OR.. maybe the prodigys target audience always was the teens, but I'm just grumpy now as a new generation is getting all the fun of it. what the hell man! I feel old at 25.

Not every fan deserves respect, I've met some right twats at gigs, although only the gigs after FOTL was released. The thing is that Experience and Jilted were albums created by a group who were part of a scene, so 99% of the fanbase was part of that scene too. After FS and FOTL they became mainstream and attracted the usual Top 40 crowd. AONO was lovely as it fitted back into the electronica scene nicely and trimmed away some of the FS FOTL "fans". IMD was another album that seemed to be intended to court the mainstream again, so along came the teeny boppers. I'm not saying all young fans fit this category, but many do. Unfortunately since the travesty of FS Prodigy are just too big to be "our little thing" any more. We just have to deal with it and either educate or try our best to ignore the ignorance of the new skool crew.

A lovely thank you to Mr. W 30, James Jupiter the 8th, Mrs. 303, Mr. 909, and especially Monsieur Akai 1100 (The Earthbound Crew)

More or less sums things up. None of my friends (yup, none) see the Prodigy the way I do, but I'm slowly drilling it into them. Thankfully Experience is where I start and they at least love that. Opinions are opinions though, what can ya do? I'm equally as ignorant with other genre's probably

Up early Wayne

I think there's a difference between a 'fan' and a 'fanatic'. I'm a fan of plenty of music and there are various artists/bands that I can say I like, but I don't know their entire back catalogue, or which part of the world they live in. I haven't read countless interviews with them and I don't interact on their official forums...

Clearly I'm a Prodigy fanatic. I'm lucky enough to remember the Experience days (yes, I'm that old) but when I talk to someone who's a 'new fan' but who isn't that familiar with the 'classics' I don't take it as an insult, I take it as a chance to educate them.

Then, if they don't like what they hear, they end up in my basement.

fair enough there are a lot of teenage wankers who think they like prodigy but can only name omen and firestarter
but i'm 18 years old, and am a true fan... i got into them through my dad, who was an oldskool dj(88-92) and have loved all there stuff my whole life,i've pretty much everything they've ever made, including some rare records and books, ive been to see them 4 times, met them twice, and have the ant on my back... there are a few true teenage fans who keep the flame alive, but yeah, an awful lot of wankers aswell

Personally, I couldn't give a monkey's if they know the back catalogue or where the band come from. It's all the moshing, elbows and headbutts that ruin it for me at the gigs these days.

I remember when people used to dance.

Haha, I danced my first Prodigy gig all the way through. I saw them in November 2009, I hadn't participated in any proper gigs before so it was my first experience of a great gig and The Prodigy live. I had a seated ticket (the venue was an icehall in Helsinki, Finland), but there was a narrow space to move in front of the seat. I really felt like I should've gone to the field but the security said no when I asked if I could just move there. After all, it was my first gig and I was a bit cautious of getting hurt and so on. BUT the good side was I could dance on the seated area as much as I wanted. Some of the time I didn't look at the stage that much because I went so nuts twisting around haha. When attending a Prodigy gig, I think everyone should dance definitely. Maybe that's just high hopes today.

That gig was the best day of my life and I wouldn't change it for anything. Still I like to watch live performances from Youtube around 1994-1997 era the most. Maxim's MCing was awesome then, it is now also but he just says the same stuff all the time. Breathe had nice live lyrics ("Psychosomatic! I'm the MC, he's the addict! The age, the year of panic!") Now it seems to be just "Breathe! Time to breathe! Where are my fucking people? Can't hear ya! Yooo-haa!". But yeah, old lives were legendary but they are still on good form now. Only a bit variation to the live setlists and Maxim's MCing and it could be much cooler.

You can't go back in time you muppet to know what it was like, New fans are fine if they have the right attitude and just because you like a few mainstream tracks of a band doesn't get you respect if you are an ignorant fool, just means you listen to capital or radio1 and catch MTV every now and then.. in my book any fan who pays to see the prodigy deserves respect they can celebrate their tracks in whatever way they want seen as they paid for the ticket!!! all imm saying is stop worrying about other fans and do your own thing !! whining like a bunch of bitches on this about it ! the problem with some people on this is they think they are better than other fans ... nobody is a better fan we are all in the same little group!!! and that group is growing and some arrogant fuckers have problems with it.... why? god only knows!!!
