I'm quite young myself and i don't understand the whole ''Moshing'' business. I can remember seeing a few lads at a prodge gig just running into each other and slapping off the ground. what's the point? what did they get from that?

Moshing was basically invented for the rocker types who can't dance.

A lovely thank you to Mr. W 30, James Jupiter the 8th, Mrs. 303, Mr. 909, and especially Monsieur Akai 1100 (The Earthbound Crew)

Invented by teens with pent up anger who are too afraid to get into fights with the people they hate, so enjoy the comfort of being safely anonymous in a crowd as they attack thin air.

That's my view anyways.
I joined in moshes every so often, but it's hard to know what the FUCK you're actually doing/meant to be doing, and so I gave up on that shit. Not a dancer either, but my skills on the floor have been complemented.

Once I nail the techno-viking though I'll show everyone who's boss.

The main thing I dislike about moshpits is that the people in them jump on you, barge into you, elbow you, kick you, shove you, barge you, push you... all in the name of "enjoying the music". But, when you have a little dance and "accidentally" break one of their noses with one of your infamous "ravers-elbows" they get all upset. All I can say is that if you're at the front playing big-boys games, you have to be prepared to play by big boys rules.

That, and you moshers need to fuck off to a gig where the crowd will appreciate your lack of social skills and personal hygiene. Failing that, just fuck off.

Ever been to a dubstep party with one of the 'filth' guys like Excision or DatsiK playing? At first I hated the moshing but I enjoy it now that I've gotten better at it

But ya I feel you, if I were at a Prodigy gig I'd rather dance. It sucks when the DJ spins a really great D&B section and there's ppl flying into you while you're trying to step...

Sorry if i'm a bit off topic here but i thought i would say, i don't know why, but it gets on my nerves a little when people in general i have met over the years, as soon as you mention Prodigy, they instantly refer to Keith. As much as i love all the guys, Liam Is The messiah behind it all. Some People need to educate themselves XD

And btw, i know what you mean about the whole "IMD teen base" but, give them time and they shall learn the Ultimate wonders of Jilted XD lol (hopefully )

If we didn't have the teen fan base, we'd have shit gigs in dives where it's all about nostalgia and not about the next new cracking tune.

The only thing that annoys me and Wayne made the valid point that there is no excuse these days for any new fan not to conduct research into any band. This was apparent at the Brixton gig in 2009 when the atmosphere died when Liam dropped Diesel Power and Rhythm of life. Ok I can sort of understand the latter as it's a b-side from one of Prodge's least well known singles but Diesel Power is unforgivable as it's a massive tune.

Yeah what was that about? That was probably one of my favourite ever live Prodigy moments. The whole crowd went dead.

If you know the entire catalogue well, go to lots of gigs and just take a genuine interest in the band (as well as not acting like a jumped up little cu*t when warriors dance and omen get dropped live) surely it doesnt matter how old you are? Better to of been there from the start obviously but cant help when you were born, im 26 and still gutted i wasnt born just a few years earlier.

I still consider myself a huge fan cos my favourite album is the first one they released, the one with the crab on the front, Keef Firestarter is my favourite band member and Another Dimension is my favourite song.

When you are out of space, you must break & enter...walking through mindfields and following medusas path...then the warriors should dance and invaders will die.

I'm 17 myself and I know exactly what you mean. There is exceptions though, me and a couple of mates live the prodigy and much prefer Experience, MFTJG and FOTL to IMD. I would say we know every song inside out. Try hard Prodigy fans annoy me too but there is some proper teen fans out there, enough of us to carry on the prodigys music for generations to come

hmm I have come to the conclusion that a twat is a twat, whatever age whatever knowledge of the band, its about being open to the whole... 'experience' etc etc if you know what i mean

Amen Apachee, it's anoying if you are young (18) and still have a mad love for the band, a thorough knowledge of them, follow and own all of the bands work but are seen as just a "new generation fan" because of your age.

I think its fantastic that "younger" fans are getting on board and taking time to research the bands history and digging what they find but rather than being complete twats at gigs (and before someone starts im not taring you all with the same brush) come and stand alongside us old Prodigy heads that will welcome you with wide open arms and relesh the chance to chat about our mutual love of The Prodigy and most of all have a top time "dancing" along to the old, the new and the indifferent tunes that the boys bring!

Cut The Mid Range Drop The Bass

Casual fans come in all ages, its nothing to do with the teenage fanbase. The sad truth is they outnumber the kind of fans who make the effort to research the band, and gigs would be much smaller without them. If someone believes the famous tracks are the only good ones they'll never want to get into the other stuff no matter how easy it is these days, because its not popular and cool enough for them
