Liam, it's time to throw your macs to windows and sit back to akai. And don't forget to burn your dubstep and dnb sample cd in fire. You don't need it. Are you waiting for me to come in UK to do this for you? Then you have to wait a lot because I found a shit job because nobody needs tsd remixes anymore. The genre you created in 1994 is almost dead my friend. And generally this thread is another clown show just like in the whole world. Too bad you don't give a fuck. I don't give a fuck for a prodigy fan. Prodigy fan became fucking miserable creature asking for something that will never receive. And I'm a miserable creature you created. And I make fucking miserable prodigy remixes. But you my friend, I hope you're not dead yet. You can stop this creep show.

Agreed 110%!

imd is packed full of sampled trax, warriors dance is the smack of the album everything bar the bassline and little synth sounds are sampled, same with WOF.

Man, in my opinion they sample a little bit too much. I mean, Warriors Dance is pretty much samples.
Anyway, don't worry, The Prodigy is far from dead. Did you listen to the remix of Ian Brown's 'Just Like You'? Well, that was shit, but their following album was nothing like it. This remix is not that bad, that dubstep high pitched wannabe bass synth makes combined with a weird-ish guitar gives the song a little edge, actually. I wish it had more deep bass, but why should we complain.
I'm pretty sure the next album will be massive, and it will amaze us all.

The problem with WD is that despite the gimmicky sax and vocal lead, 90% of the track is bollocks. Literally just a noise, which is the terrible incomprehensible 'bass'.

To this day I still don't understand why a) It was on the album, b) Why anyone praises it at all and c) Why 'warriors' as become the word for Prodigy fans.

Seriously, take out that vocal and sax. What do you have, a good beat? No, you have a shitty unclear rhythm. A good bass? No, a warbly mess that makes you wonder if your EQ settings are off. The track is nothing, you can't dance to it, bop to it or move to it, it's a fucking mess.

/end rant on warriors dance *phew*

I agree on all accounts except for one thing: the high-pitch riff is definitely not a 'dubstep' thing even tho a lot of dubstep tunes use it these days. That kind of thing comes from Rock I think, Tom Morello's been doing it for years, since the RatM days.

take the vocal out of WD and you have nothing to speak of. the loop is tired and completely agree about the messy bass. the part where the tune breaks down and the bass kinda sits there sounds all very amateurish. but the tune overall succeeds because the vocal is retro rave and theres energy there to make it work

there was an obvious step change when liam moved from hardware to software. the tunes feel lazily written and poorly produced to me, certainly when you compare them to other electronic artists with half liams talent

but i guess the prodigy isnt about studio albums

which is a real shame

My assumption was that WD was supposed to be a retro-sounding track. In an age where music has razor-sharp production, and perfect quantization, it's kind of a breath of fresh air when an artist like Burial comes around and does the opposite. I think that's kind of what they were going for with this one.

Something like this:

But ultimately it was the bad mixing that makes the tune hard to listen to.

Just my take on it.

Also, I thought Liam went back to using Cubase for programming and analog synths for the basslines on IMD. Am I wrong?

And you guys do know that he wrote MFJG in Cubase right?

can't agree with that, it is a quality tune, well manipulated, good beats, synths and bad arse variable bass

no idea

i remember seeing that he went laptop for AONO

so maybe the step change in writing and production quality is studio vs laptop
