I have a love hate relationship with the prodigy Ant, It appeared after Jilted as far as I know, and I know I asked about this before, but it bugs me (no pun intended) It is a nice touch in some ways, but I am not a sheep soldier. I remember seeing the Ant on new T shirts at T in the park in 1996, firestarter time. I didn't really like it then, I preferred the original logo, the Ant is like the nike tick. It's like a brand isn't it, and now everyone has the tattoos, which is fair enough, but about as original any old copy cat. Respect in Ant or sad boring lack of imagination Ant tattoo? I love the prodigy and would love to show my respect and allegiance to them but wearing an Ant is a bit lame. Sorry to be controversial and dis some people with tattoos, but when I get one, its gonna require a little more thought........

The ant represents what and who the prodigy are to a t. The ant is small but powerful, they work hard, they work as a team. All of which the prodigy do. Its not just the bands logo its a focal point liam has explained what the ant stands for in many interviews. The ant insect is always there but because its small u sometimes don't notice it but they are strong powerful and hardworking which is just what that the prodigy are. All this hate towards the ant just cause a few scene kids have the tattoo is silly.

It's not hate, more apathy I just see it as a brand now, less so when it first appeared. The original logo was the best.
I have never heard any interview on why and when the Ant was introduced, it still seems odd to introduce it, it sounds more like a marketing ploy, I am getting cynical in my old age

What about the original logo, why was that scrapped? Who really came up with the Ant? Just wondering you know.......

Yes granted, just like you said it's respect but a little played out now, bring the new album and a new logo I actually like the Ant and I like most tattoos, its just the two together, I am not branding myself, sorry man. I have thought about a tattoo for a long time, I am 34... but it has to be really special and unlike anyone else, a design including my love for music (mainly the prodigy) spiritual guidance (3 - om) and my other true love, and even after 5/6 years with my partner I need to be sure for that. I want it all to last for real, it's writing your soul on your body, its not like a ring you can't take it off

The ant actually appears on the Electronic Punks tape in a different form from The Fat Of The Land era's logo

Cheers, I guess its something that started just being a small thing thats going massive bigger than the Stones iconic lips I guess. Its here to stay, I just liked being different but viva la clones
