TOPIC: smack the set up

After a wee trip to see the chemical brothers, (nevermind the visuals) I do like the fact their tunes and set are generally mashed up, from seeing the prodigy a fair few times I love them with all my heart but I get the impression a studio to live performance is a tad polished and could do with a bit of messing around, eh liam keep it fresh, bring me thunder (original live please )

Agree'd...I've mentioned a few times on the forum that he's a bit "laid back" with live sets nowadays.

I love to see the boys live as they kick it so hard and there is never a bad show but after seeing them at various gigs and festivals during the IMD tours it does grate on me that you know whats coming next and knowing when the show is coming towards the end but hey thats my problem as i'm the one buying the tickets knowing what to expect so maybe i shouldnt moan to much!

What gets me is that having the tunes they have in their arsenal it suprises me that Liam doesnt throw us a couple of suprises in every now and again and im not talikng about throwing in Spitfire or No Good when they relise they have blistered through the set and have another 10 mins to go. 5 albums worth of material not to mention all the live only tracks and b sides, some of which havent seen the light of day for donkeys years and they keep playing the same sets coming up in to the 3rd year of touring!

Dont they get bored? Or are they now having to keep the mony men happy and stick to a routined show! Bring back the 90's style of gigs!

Please Liam if your reading this can you bring the old sets to a close and do some small gigs for the old skool crews and drop it like ou used to and keep us all on our toes in anticipation of what tune is next?

I like the chemical Brothers but they blatently record their sets in the studio and then press play and pretend to play live while athough most of the stuff Liam plays is prerecorded, there is some elements where he is actually playing live.

I'd love Liam to refresh the setlists to 3-4 songs on each night of the uk tour. I understand him wanting to playi safe when they go abroad and play the hits but they are so huge on the Uk liam could drop What evil Lurks at a small club gig for fans and the whole place would go mad for it just as they would for SMBU, Breathe etc

That's what I think about Liam these days...doesn't really bother me though, just a bit sad to see at times

Back for the RWTW tour (wow, almost exactly 1 year ago) I managed to blag a setlist (well, my missus did for me) for the Plymouth and Southend gigs and Jericho was shown with a question mark next to it.
I actually made an A4 sized sign with the word "Jericho!!!" on it to flash to Liam as I knew I would be at the front for Bournemouth, like Plymouth and Southend.
However, I chickened out as I though I might be some kind of nob at the front. it wasn't played that night either But I did hear it at Brixton in April '09.

EDIT:

For anyone who's interested:

I nearly came when they dropped Jericho at Wembley Wasn't expecting it at all (deliberately kept away from the setlist threads on here). Was my first (and hopefully not last) Prodigy gig!

That Robert Plant screeming sample just screaming through the veins just before the boom of the bass rips through the body Magical!

I know Liam is playing to a new audience now but he should be educating the younger generation on some of his best work whilst giving us "oldies" the tunes we long to hear live again!

Liam do an old skool gig that is for your old skool fans! Get Leeroy back for one night and take us on a musical trip that we long to relive again!
