TOPIC: Will TMTH be number one?

Will TMTH be number one? 3 years, 11 months ago #31666

Would love to see it at number one but why arnt Prodigy songs ever number one in the charts, i know its not rave era any more but if Dizz can get to number one with Bonkers why cant TMTH do the same. I know alot of prodigy fans will say the prodigy are underground and dont care about being number one but lets just forget that a minute and think that it would be cool to see TMTH at the top. If they can headline festivals and have a wicked year touring why cant the sales of the songs reflect that??!!

No chance. It's the third single off an album that was released back in February. Singles released before an album (as per Dizzee Rascal's last two singles) tend to get a lot higher in the singles chart than they would if the album they are from was already released. 'Omen' was the best chance at a number 1 but it's initial sales impact was watered down out by the early release on iTunes a week before the CD, 12" and non-iTunes Digital release. 'Omen' got to number 8 based purely on first week iTunes sales. When the other formats became available it went up to number 4.

Mate, you made every single point I was going to make last night before my internet went down as it usually does of an evening (fucking Tiscali).
Bravo chap, couldn't have said it better myself.

Im doing my bit to get it as close as possible! Got an online voucher for €10 and bought the TMTTH Single and the Omen Single which I missed out on earlier on. If Warriors Dance couldnt get to no.1 then TMTTH has no chance!

Not a chance, especially with the lack of a decent b-side or remix.
I bought the Box Set version of IMD and have TMTTH on 7" so what would the point be in getting it when there's no extras??

The mix of 'Take Me To The Hospital' on the single is a different mix to the album version. It's the '(09 EQ)' which means it has been remixed by Liam. Compare 'Poison' off 'Music For The Jilted Generation' to the single 'Poison (95 EQ)' version. Calling it (09 EQ) makes me think it may not have had a drastic remix but it will be different all the same.

As a fan I'd love B-sides but they wouldn't make much difference to single sales. Most people who buy singles these days only buy the title track as a digital download. I doubt CD and Vinyl singles make up 10% of a single's total sales now. Fans would love B-sides but 'casual' fans who just happen to like the track couldn't care less about b-sides. Remixes get the track played where the original version might not be played e.g. Dubstep, Drum 'N' Bass, etc. club nights and radio shows. Singles more than ever are used to promote the album.

I reckon that it has a good chance getting to No. 1, after it has been destroying festival crowds worldwide...

There is no way. As James said (and I agree totally) the only release that had any chance was "Omen." That said, I think "TMTTH" is the best track on the album. Shame it's all wanky remixes yet again. Maybe Liams got something up his sleeve for those of us who like Prodigy choons, but aren't over keen on amateurs Cubase-churned out remixes.

I'm hoping for this also and could see it happening in the not too distant future.

me too, I'm really hoping for a noticeable difference from the album track, like a few have seen before I made a thread about the very same, only it was for when Warrior's dance had just been announced

as for hitting number 1...

Doesn't seem likely, honestly the best chances of that are gone, Omen and Warrior's are better tracks and even they didn't hit number 1, but you never know like, maybe Liam can pull it off and Take Us to the Hospital AND to number One

It´s an opinion if "Omen" and "Warriors Dance" are better than "Take Me To The Hospital" - i.e. I like "Take Me To The Hospital" more than "Warriors Dance" but I like "Omen" more than "Take Me To The Hospital". My taste !

If "TMTTH" will be a no.1 hit .... hmm, who knows ?

The fact most fans have the album and don´t need the single, cos it´s just 2-track release isn´t the point in my opinion if this track will reach no. 1 in the charts or not.

Also the fact, there will be a different EQ´09 version on the single [also on videoclip I guess] isn´t the point if this tune reaches no.1 - it just a kind of small gift Liam gives to us fans - thank you for this, Liam

I guess the main fact is, if "TMTTH" will have a high chart position is the reaction of ALL the people worldwide which don´t have the "Invaders Must Die" album [yes... there are million people out there], cos they´re not into "Omen" and "Warriors Dance" or they don´t know who the prodigy is or they never heared of them before.

Just imagine you will be in a position of a non-prodigy fan or a person, which don´t know anything of prodigy and one day you see that videoclip "Omen" the first time and you don´t like it, then there is a 2nd videoclip called "Warriors Dance" and you don´t like it, too. In both cases you would say "Shit Video - shit music".

Now with this information ask yourself: Do you think, you would give a chance for listening to the the whole album of this band ???? No, you wouldn´t ! You will never hear tracks like i.e. "Thunder", "Colours" , also you don´t know the track "Take Me To The Hospital"

If you see / listen to a music act on TV or Radio and your opinion about this is: "What a big piece of bullshit", you will definetley not listen to the whole album, cos you don´t want to hear MORE shit of these act, cos you expect shit in this case - you all should know that....

I.e. I bet everybody here knows some Britney Spears tracks [no chance these days avoiding this...] - let´s say: You know most of her singles. But do you ever heared or will you ever hear a complete album of her ??? I guess not.

Back to Prodigy this could mean: This person hates single one and single two, but MAYBE the person likes the third one ???

That´s the point releasing a single IMO - you have the aim to reach "NEW" persons / fans worldwide, also to reach persons which were never been into prodigy before. Maybe these NEW persons will say: "Wow! What a masterpeice "Take Me To The Hospital" is, way better than "Omen" and "Warriors Dance"- I didn´t expected that ! I should give the album a chance and take a listen to it and if I don´t like the whole album, I will buy the single .... !"

You see the point! The common thing / formular of success is to approach a lot of people, you don´t get before - that´s also called business. The success of "Take Me To The Hospital" depends of the fact how many NEW people will like/love and adore it.

Good Luck, Liam, Keith and Maxim !

It's not being negative it's being realistic. Name me any artist over the last 5 years who has had the third single off their already released album reach number 1 in the UK singles chart. It doesn't happen. I'll be buying the CD and vinyl. It will probably get into the top 10 at best.
