Prodigy Feat Slash Collaberation ??? 2 years, 10 months ago #49885

I went to see Slash at a local gig last weekend and Ive gotta say he was pretty awesome.. Got me thinking about whether he would suit a collaberation with the Prodigy?? His riffs were still as epic as back in the early 90's and when you think about Liam's works from the past - Juliet Lewis's vocals on 'Spitfire', Dave Grohl's Drums on 'Run With Wolves' Jim Davie's guitar on 'Breathe' and 'Firestarter' theres no doubt that rock has enhanced some of his tunes in a big way. Having read Slash's biography I also like that Guns and Rose's didnt give a shit about going the commercial route and wanted to produce raw tunes that were outside of the main stream for people to party. Who knows, It could work..

I dunno, Slash wouldn't be able to play his riffs and solo's, and if he did, the dance crowd wouldn't all be into it...I love GnR, seen 'em live, but Slash at a Prod gig would be a bit...mix of wtf and meh for me

At the end of the day its all about what an artist can bring to the table.. And Slash has gotta be one of the most talented guitar players out there. I would be well up for another Prodigy tune where riffs are used like those in 'Their Law'.. Ive seen that tune dropped many a time live and even if your just into dance tunes, it always goes down a storm. Dont get me wrong, I dont think Slash should be on stage with The Prodigy, he's just got great skills with a guitar.

You've seen the Guns n' Roses from nowadays. Which is pure shit. And which is without Slash too. I've seen Slash live and he is awesome. But I don't see how The Prodigy and Slash could work..

I don't mind a bit of G&R, the older stuff, but I have to admit that I'm hoping the next album by Liam will be a guitar free zone and ditching the overused "rock drum" sounding breakbeats for some nasty electro drum patterns.

A lovely thank you to Mr. W 30, James Jupiter the 8th, Mrs. 303, Mr. 909, and especially Monsieur Akai 1100 (The Earthbound Crew)

100% agree'd. IMD was a great album, with great tracks and it showed more of Liam's range as a musician, but I want a long Jilted-style album. Bit miffed that he's getting pretty into dirty rock tracks...
I want to hear him more on the old school synths, 303 (that JiltedGenerator now has..jealous) and W-30 sorta stuff.

Ah well we'll see

would be awesome, but it seems that Liam wants to live a rockstar life from now on, so it's highly unlikely that we'll see that.
Let's hope Liam is gonna prove me wrong

Yer, fair enough.. Ive amended the title of the thread and Flinty is more than welcome to move it to the 'questions' section.

As I said before, Prodigy on stage should remain just that.. The fact that they are a tight unit works really well and I dont think they should dillute it by having 'guest' appearances.. Nah.

But yeah, as 'Stingy 303' says, Liam def seems to be moving towards using a lot of rock inspired influences.. Hence, seeing Slash perform live I though it could work.. Not so sure in heinsight.

Im all for going back to Jilted's style, but Liam always says he wants each album to evolve.. Who knows what 2011 will bring..
