What DON'T you like about The Prodigy? 2 years, 2 months ago #55085

They will always be my favourite band, they are THE Prodigy, and no one will ever be like them. But for a Prodigy album, IMD was a sort of a failure. Their live shows are a little bit tamed now, and too much music coming out of the laptop. Having gay synths and weird noises all over the place? I can't stand those leads in Omen and IMD, but meh, some people like them and they are very good party starters, so they kinda grew in me and now I like them just like I love any other Prodigy song. Collaboration with the new, horrid, faggy Pendulum?? Oh, well, Liam knows what he's doing, I guess, I heard "Immersion" and I can hear Liam co-producing all the good songs on it. I like "Immunize" now, and some other songs too. But going on tour with Linkin Park???? LINKIN FUCKIN PARK??? WHAT THE SHIT??? I don't wish to offend any LP fan here, but I think it's just embarrassing for such a dynamic, powerful, smashing, loud and well, YOUTHFUL band to go on tour with those emos. What the hell guys. Yes, I mad. And I'm sorry for bragging, I'm more into drum and bass and extreme metal.
If you're still reading. I kinda complained a lot, right? Well, that doesn't make me a hater, a whiner maybe. But that's just because I love The Prodigy more than any other band (I'm talking about the music). I will still buy all the upcoming albums, I'll buy T-shirts and go to the concerts when they come to my country (yeah, visit Romania in your next tour!!) and I'll wait every release and enjoy the fuck out of it.

TL'DR: IMD was rushed, Pendulum collaboration and WHY LINKIN PARK TOUR?

But MFTJG, synth is what it's all about...if anything, I'd get rid of the guitars, they were a bit messy imo

Agreed, don't know why he went for it
I heard "Immersion" and I can hear Liam co-producing all the good songs on it

He did one

Hah, agreed. That said, LP are a younger band, and for a younger audience

All 3 are true, but I wouldn't say IMD was rushed, or even lazy, just a bit messy, as Majin said

To be honest there isnt a lot i can pick fault with! I think after 20+ years we have been treated to some fantastic ground breaking tunes, some amazing gigs and most of all the memories that we all have of the band

The thing that grates on me the most is the constant need to play the same set list all the time. There is a real lack of orgianality and off the cuff action at the gigs these days. Yes i know they've got to sell the record and give the FOTL fans the tunes they want to hear but a change in set lists would be nice and a wee trip down memory lane wih a few Experiece & MFTJG tunes thrown in. Maybe a bit more freestyling off of Maxim and a bit more dancing from Keith wouldnt go a miss either as he is starting to look a bit daft just spinning around with his arms outstretched all the time! The gigs still kick arse but i think if they was to scale the light set ups down they wouldnt be as immense as they are so maybe they are starting to rely heavily on the lights thesedays but hey old age catches up with all of us at some point. I also would like Liam to let us in on what he is doing behind his gear! Doesnt appear to use nearly 3 quaters of the stuff he has so come on Liam let us in on it!

The constant champagne talk gets on my tits at times! Dont hint something is going to happen and then go back on what you spout off. Just spring it on us rather than keeping us waiting whilst getting frustrated and pissed off waithing for "announcments" to come true!

Overall though i feel we've been blessed since 91 with some life changing material and long may it continue. Whether they can keep the live presence going we will have to wait and see!

nothing. good songs & good performances

stuff that are associated with prodigy ? the remixes from the invaders singles were week and the fans who worship the band like they are some rock star legends are annoying, they remind me of iron maiden fans talking about true metal and stuff

I think I agree, in the sense it should be all about the quality music rather than the fan fair. Less bullshit more music mixups. Although IMD sets are for the global fanbase rather than for someone who really follows the band about a bit .I have been getting to know the setlist and finding it boring after a while, with the lack of mixing it up -like many. Yes basically more old school, bring it back and cut down on the fat

The reason so many love liam and co is beacause they are pioneers and keep going, I admire, respect and love what they've done to enhance my life, so if thats annoying to you , you need a head check, dweeb

The synths in MFTJG were dark and powerful. Listen to that chorus in Omen, or IMD. They sound like Pendulum pop or J-Pop.

Seems like the setlist has been modified to please the new fans and the average fans. They could start testing more old tracks and be brave. Maybe they are afraid they don't get big crowd response from the more less known tracks, or what? We are the fans, we have heard the major hits again and again, give us some rare tracks or even more Jilted and Experience. Even just put one old school banger in the encore and change it on every show (Everybody in the Place, Charly, Wind It Up, Jericho, Death of the Prodigy Dancers).

What i don't like about the lads are all those interviews saying that every gig is unique etc...
Well considering that every time they are performing in a different country in front of a different audience and that the way "they do their thing" is one of a kind, yes i suppose that every gig is unique...but when they have the exact same set list with Maxim repeating the exact same words at the exact same time i don't think that i can call that unique and if they can i don't know what to say.
If i am correct Maxim is 44 now but live he still "beats the shit out of it" with some cool moves and aggressive/motivational screams calling the warriors to battle...i respect that a lot but i think he can do more than that!I love seeing videos from 97' with all this quality MCing he did back then...!
As for Liam i don't know why he always have the set list in front of him because by now he should had memorized it.Also i think he has in mind that if they drop some old school tunes they will not receive so much feed back from the audience...in a foreign country maybe but imagine a gig at Brixton with tunes only from Experience and Jilted!!!!!!!!!!!!.It would be a mass experience!
As for Pendulum collaborations and support to Linkin Park i think it makes more fans to experience them in the surface and not deep inside.

If he really isn't doing anything how can he live with it?

I have the same query!
If he only press the keyboards without producing any sound and i hope he don't,HOW THE FUCK CAN HE LIVE WITH IT???!!!

Edit:Some was faster than me again

When you are out of space, you must break & enter...walking through mindfields and following medusas path...then the warriors should dance and invaders will die.

See, feels good to get it out. Seems the general view we got from this topic is that live shows are becoming a little stale, which is just as well since they're slowing to a stop for a while.

With the cash reeled in from the entire IMD tour era, and these LP dates, I reckon they may have some free time for smaller indoor UK gigs for testing new album material here and there, hopefully anyways

Well yeah they actually did slip some old tunes to the set. Still i'd crave for more Let's see how the setlist is going to look like in the summer. I'm not expecting miracles but some changes would be welcome. By the way, am I the only one who thinks the "new" Poison fill isn't as good as Jaws Fill? Kinda guts me that it has replaced the "part two coming your way!"-drop with the heavy bass and the cool drums, you know the second part in the original tune. Previous live version had the whole Poison running and Jaws Fill then slaughtered the place straight after it. Now the new fill just takes away half of Poison. And that was the best track along with Jaws Fill last time when I saw them. New fill is ok, but maybe a bit too rocky. Isn't just as heavy as the original part 2.

I like the new fill but, yes, this is the main problem with this new fill, I loved this powerful part of Poison.
