well i dont know why he spelled it 'Analogue' but an 'Analog' is a synthesizer keyboard.
No keyboard at all necessarily..
There are two types of synth; digital and analog.
Analog synths use analog circuitry to generate the waveforms and modulate them (cutoff filters, frequency etc), where as digital synths, aka VA (virtual analog) reproduce the sounds by playing a sampled waveform and using digital means of altering effects.
The differences in sound are are subtle, but people who are big into synths can spot the differences..many claim to hear more warmth and fatness from them.
Analog synths are usually vintage, the best example of an analog synth being the MS-20.
Liam uses this for a lot of bass sounds, and was produced in the 70's. Thus all models today are obtained second hand.
The problem with analog synths is that because they are analog, a lot of physical problems can occur with the circuitry.

The price of an MS-20 is usually over a grand (second hand), whereas a second hand digital synth will be less than €500.
There are VST's of analog synths, which are basically digital recreations via computer software for computers, even for the MS-20, which some claim to be more or less identical to the real thing.
